Ways Of Linking PAN Card With Aadhar Card
There are few ways of linking pan card with Aadhar card-

1. Through Income Tax E-Filling Website
- Type the Income Tax Site in the search bar and visit.
- Provide the details as mentioned in the Aadhar card. This includes the name (do not make any mistakes), PAN card number, Aadhar card number. Tick the date of birth as provided in the Aadhar card.
- Type down the mentioned Captcha code. For the visually challenged, OTP can be generated on request. The OTP is received on the registered phone number.
- Then comes an option ‘Link Aadhar.’ Click it.
2. Through SMS To 567678 Or56161
If you face difficulties linking PAN card with Aadhar through e-filing, there is another easier option available. Considering not everyone is a pro in internet functionaries, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has provided various other methods to link.
You can link through SMS to NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited or UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited (UTIITL). Else you can send an SMS to 567678 or 56161following the order-
UIDPAN<12-digit Aadhaar><10-digit PAN>
For instance, let your Aadhar card number be 234567891234, and your PAN card number be ABCDE1234P. So, you are required to send-
UIDPAN 234567891234 ABCDE1234P
Only SMS charges are applicable. There won’t be any further additional charges.
Point to remember:-
In case your name in Aadhar and PAN card does not match, but gender and DOB do, then OTP will be generated to the phone number registered with the Aadhar number. It is advisable to get it corrected if the name doesn’t match before linking Aadhar with a PAN card.
3. Manual Form Fill-Up (Following Annexure-1)
As per Govt. of India rules, CBDT has proposed a manual method to make it easier. There are people mismatching or getting confused with the PAN card or Aadhar numbers. Making things manual would ease up their burden.
Under manual form fill-up, you have to visit any nearby service centers of NSDL or UTIITSL and complete the information criteria (Annexure-1). As documentation, you need to carry a copy of Aadhar card and PAN card with you.
After submitting the copies of PAN card and Aadhar, pay the prescribed fee. Unlike online services, it is not free of cost. The prescribed fee depends on the correction to be made (if any) in Aadhar card or PAN card.
Suppose there is an error in the spelling of your name in Aadhar card. They will charge you Rs. 25, whereas for correcting PAN card, they will charge Rs.110. In case of any major mismatch, Biometric authentication is compulsory. For instance, they can ask for a fingerprint verification or signature.
For example, if your name in Aadhar card is RAHUL SHARMA and that PAN card is RAHOOL SHARMA. Your Aadhar name is correct, while your PAN cardholder name has to be changed. Thus they will charge Rs. 110.

The telecom operators proposed few methods for easy linking of Aadhar card with mobile number. The verification included the exchange of OTP (One Time Password) valid for a few minutes. There are other methods, too, like agent-assisted authentication and IVR (Interactive Voice Response).
Visit the telecom operator’s website. Type your phone number that is linked with Aadhar. It will be under verification grounds.
OTP gets generated in the assigned phone number. Type the correct OTP in the box and click ‘submit.’ Another box of consent message appears asking for the 12-digits Aadhar card number. A message will be sent for OTP generation to the mobile number. It would further ask about KYC-details. The user has to go through all the details and accept its terms and conditions. Enter the OTP in the box. A confirmation message was sent to the registered mobile number after the completion.
ii. Offline Methods
Below mentioned are some steps to link Aadhar with mobile verification. It is applicable only if you have an existing phone number.
Look in for your nearby telecom operator. For documentation purposes, carry with yourself an attested copy of Aadhar Card. Provide the phone number and Aadhar details to the executive correctly. A 4-digit OTP is generated in your assigned phone number. Use it under verification ground. Provide your Biometric details. It includes a fingerprint verification or signature. After 24 hrs, a confirmation message was sent to your phone number asking for KYC details. Reply with ‘Y’ for providing the KYC details.
b. Steps to link Aadhar card with mobile number using IVR.
The Aadhar card can also be linked with the phone number by IVR or Interactive Voice Response services. The Indian Government suggests it. Below mentioned are the steps. Kindly go through it for an easy approach-
Dial the toll-free number 14546 from the applicable phone number. Verify your citizenship if you are an Indian press 1. Enter your 12-digit Aadhar number. Recheck it and press 1 to confirm. Enter the mobile number registered for the OTP to generate. A consent message was received asking for the DOB, name, and photo from the UIDAI database. Enter the OTP and press 1 for re-verification.
Point to remember- Nowadays, it is not mandatory to link Aadhar with a phone number.
6. How to update PAN card?
The Income Tax sector uses the PAN card details to know your information. Even after the IT sector, a PAN card is required to make new purchases of property, jewelry, etc.
So in case, anything is new, it is mandatory to update it. Although the address is not mentioned in your PAN card while applying for it, you have to mention your residential address.
