Eligibility To Apply For EPF Claim
Even to track your claim, you must fulfill certain criteria. These are mentioned below-
- You’re free to extra the total amount in your fund after 2 months of being jobless.
- You can also withdraw the entire amount after retirement. However, for that, you must exceed the age of 55 years.
- Apart from that, a year before you get retired, you can extract an amount equal to 90% of the total amount.
- In case you’re jobless, you can extract about 75% of the total amount in your fund. The rest of 25%, you can extract after a month of getting 75%.
Before rushing to the steps, make sure you have these things handy with you. These things are mentioned below-
a) UAN or your Universal Account Number
b) The EPF regional office of the employer

Different Ways Of EPF Claim
To know the EPF claim, we have these ways.

1. Direct Website By Providing The UAN Number
i. Visit the EPFO portal. Click on Our Service, followed by For Employees.
ii. Press on ‘Know your PF Status.’
iii. Enter your UAN number.
iv. Write the captcha as shown.
v. Fill in the following details-
- State your PF office location
- Drop down the list and look for your PF office location.
- Enter your code of the establishment.
- Finally, enter your PF account number.
vi. Finally, click on the SUBMIT to review your claim status.
The EPFO also grants alert to the claimants via SMS if a mobile number is linked to the account. However, you receive SMS only in two cases-
- The PF amount gets transferred to the claimant’s account.
- On receiving claim application registered
2. UAN Member Portal
By this process, you can check by following the steps mentioned below-
i. Go to the authentic EPFO site. Provide your UAN number and enter your password correctly to login.
ii. You’ll find an option ‘Online Services’. Click it.
iii. Next, search for the option ‘Track Claim Status.’ Tap on it.
iv. A new page opens, showing your claim status.
3. Offline Application
Even if you’ve submitted the form in offline method, you can still track it online. Stay calm and look at how.
There are two ways to check the claim status –
- By providing your UAN number
- By providing your EPF Account Number.
4. On The Authentic EPFO Site
i. Directly go to the site.
ii. Search for the option ‘Our Services.’
iii. Tap on the option ‘For Employees’.
iv. A new page opens. Click on the option ‘Services.’
v. Press on the option ‘Member UAN.’
vi. The rest of the steps is the same as the UAN member portal.
5. Without Providing Your UAN Number
If you want to know your EPF claim without providing your UAN number, go through these steps-
i. Go to the authentic EPFO site. Tap on the option ‘Know Your Claim Status.’ The direct link is below-
There you’ll find the option “Click Here for Knowing the Claim Status Option.”
ii. Here, you’ll find a table showing different states. Select your state from it.
iii. Then choose the city from which you belong.
iv. There would be different boxes asking for information regarding your PF account. Fill them.
v. Finally, enter the click button.
6. By The UMANG App
There’s an app called Umang. You can easily get that in the Google play store. You can easily know your status of the EPF withdrawal process with 2-3 clicks only. Let’s know-how. But before that, make sure your number is well tied-up with the UAN number.
i. Tap on the Umang app. You’ll find the option EPFO. Click it.
ii. There you’ll find the option “Employee Centric Services.” Tap on it. Then click on “Track Claim.”
iii. Next, provide your UAN number. Then press on “Get OTP.”
iv. Look at the OTP and enter it correctly. Then tap on the option “Login.”
v. Now you can check your claim. There are criteria showing Tracking ID, Claim type, raised claim date, and the claim status.
7. By the Process of SMS
You can also go for the method of SMS. For that, you need to type this number- 7738299899. Make sure you send the SMS from your phone number that you’ve tied-up with your UAN number. The format of your SMS must be in the sequence as mentioned below-

Here LAN refers to Language, for example, TEL for Telugu. There are 10 such languages.
8. Giving a Missed Call On The Toll-Free Number
There’s a toll-free number 011-22901406. All you’ve to do is ring them up and cut it, i.e., give a missed call. You won’t get any calling charges, so don’t worry about your phone bill. After about 2-3 rings, the call will automatically get disengaged. You will receive an SMS showing your claim.
1. How many days will it take for EPF claim settlement?
If you’ve applied in the online mode, it gets transacted within 5 days to a max of 30 days. However, in the offline method, it takes a bit of time. Normally, it takes about 20 days to a month. Thus, if you need to cancel the withdrawal, you must carry out the procedure within 5 days of applying.
2. Why is my EPF status showing rejected?
If it’s showing rejected, there’s no option but to apply it again. There’s certainly some fault in your application. The problem won’t show. So, make sure the next time you apply, recheck everything twice.
3. How can I check my PF status in KYC?
