From the time he learned to read Ben Heald has been a Stephen King fan. Since the beginning of his film career, over six years ago, he has been interested in making a Stephen King film that stays true to the source material while creating a work which is unique and powerful. Gray Matter is that film.

With the help of Bostonian Productions he has assembled the best indie crew in New England. Our crew includes some of the most talented make-up & FX people in the area. These professionals will be utilizing classic methods to achieve these special effects in the most realistic and intense way, in the style of films like The Thing and Alien. There will be no CGI, all the special effects in Gray Matter will be practical.

We are trying to raise as much money as possible from this source, our total budget being $50k. This money will go to renting a camera and lenses, lighting and grip equipment, feeding the crew, building sets, props, make-up, housing the cast and crew, and special effects.

The film will be shot in two parts. The "Present" in the film is a cold, bleak winter, which will be a five day long shoot in December. The "Past" is set mostly in summer time, this will be shot next year. The summer shoot is also when we will be shooting most of our special effect sequences as well as a few sets that we have to build, shooting this next summer gives us plenty of time to plan and coordinate. This present donation will be used for the winter portion (budgeted at 15k of the total), footage from which will then be used to raise completing funds to film the summer portion.
