I created Get IT Body Fitness so that I
could help other women find the healthy goddess within themselves. After the
birth of my 3rd child, I was frustrated with how my body looked, and even more
frustrated with the doctors who kept associating every sickness I presented as
a symptom of my obesity. I began working out, researching, and developing
healthy habits. I also tried gimmicks and fads, which did not work. Through my
journey I dropped 4 sizes, 50 lbs, and 20% body fat. Others saw my transition
and began asking for advice, which led me to feel even more passionate about healthier
living and led me to pursue certification as a Certified Fitness Trainer. Now
I'm ready to help (as my 17-year old daughter put it) "fat girls like me
become skinny girls like me." But it's not as much about being
"skinny" as it is about becoming healthier, living a fuller life, and
getting more out of life. There are not many trainers out there who have been on the weight loss journey themselves. I am one of only a few who can pull out pictures of me at over 200 lbs and say "If I can do it, so can YOU."
The target market of Get IT Body Fitness is women, 27+ years old, who are
either busy professionals that can't make it to the gym, stay-at-home moms who
find it hard to get into the gym, or those who for whatever reason feel embarrassed
or ashamed of the gym, and want to get healthy in the privacy of their home. I
bring the equipment and know-how to the client in her home. We discuss healthy
eating, activities, getting the family involved, etc. I also provide the specialized and private
boot camp experience. This is for women who want a group fitness experience in
their homes or place of business, possibly with a group of friends or
coworkers. By specialized, I am talking about either a particular body part
(such as ab blasting, Glute toning, etc) or event (Bridesmaids Burn, or
Computer Geek Cardio for example). I provide the equipment and routines.
Because of the nature of mobile training, I focus on the 5 city area of Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park and Leander, TX. Austin has a saturated market for trainers and boot camps; the northern area has been left out it seems!
I am asking for help in funding the start up costs. These costs are basically
for equipment (stability balls, resistance bands, weights, weighted balls, Bosu
balls, balance boards, TRX bands, cardio steps, and other portable functional
fitness equipment). I also need a portable device such as an iPad to track
training schedules and routines and keep digital documentation of clients'
forms, and a portable audio system for music (of course!). The remainder of startup costs is for marketing (video and photography
included). I have estimated all outstanding startup costs (as I have already
been purchasing and working the business) at $5000.
In exchange, I am willing to give any donors fitness advice and writing for
websites, personal fitness needs, and corporate consulting on wellness
programs, etc. I have established three smaller layers of donations ($50-$150),
but if someone is willing to take on the venture at the full $5000 either
through a gifting or a small business loan, I am willing to accept this as
well.
Women train differently and handle stress differently. Women are also the
thread that holds families together. If the head female in the house is not
performing at her optimum, the house is not performing as well. Consider the
possibilities of lowered obesity rates, healthier families, and better living outcomes which begin with businesses such as
my business reaching women, one at a time.
