Introduction
Ladies and Gentlemen, if I may I have
10 minutes of your time, I would like to present to you an idea that
the team and I hold very dear to us.
We are dancelists.com, a place for
dancers, dance enthusiasts, and anyone interested in dance.
Let me start introducing myself. My Name is My Nguyen and I am founder of the company, but more
importantly, I am dancer and for 10 years I have been involved in the dance community. In fact! I am a very active member in the dance community. I am also an Entrepreneurship Major.
The Problem
Now, the reason why we pursue this idea
is because saw some problems that dance community is suffering from.
We found and filter the top problems amongst the other problems that
the dance community has
- Current trends show that dance is
becoming more popular, but employment opportunities are still low.
- Different dance communities cannot
communicate because of geographical constraints
- There is not a place where dancers
(especially trained in different styles of dance)can go to one place
to connect with one another
- For those who are not dancers but
interested in getting involved, it is extremely difficult to find
information and intimidating to get involve.
I am saying this from experience.
But these problems are share not just
by me, but also by a huge crowd of people in
the dance market.
Market Analysis
We can see that by looking at our
market research, the performing art industry is a growing industry.
But because dance is such an informal market, we have to gathered our
data through alternative methods such by looking the studios listed
in the U.S and averaging the number students each studio turnover
yearly (250-500 of students per semester)
We also looked into how many dance
majors there are in different colleges and how many of them held
jobs.
But if you want more of the micro view,
lets look at the fan growth speed on sites such as facebook for the
these different TV shows, such as so you think you can dance, dancing
with the stars, and dance india dance. ( proving that dance is a
global phenomenon.) If you look the grow speed. The numbers are are growing astoundingly. This clearly shows that there is an interest in dance.
And to further prove that, our primary research done through
collective surveys and interviews shows that our potential customers
would be interested in a way to connect in a place specific for the
dance world. Something easy to use.imagine that..
And this quest has lead us find a
solution which purpose is to solve this pain.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you,
the product.
Dancelists.com is going to be a
fantastic platform that is extremely user friendly, highly
interactive, but more importantly, a portal where dancers can come to
connect, share ideas, and inspire each other. We do this by offering
some key features including
The dance move index. As a dancer, we
constantly strive for improvements in our dancing, and one way to do
that is to be able to browse and upload videos of dance moves created
by us and other people, and to search for those videos in a easy to
filter manner. One feature is the the profile page, this page will allow
dancers to connect, and rate each other. SO what? Well, the idea here is the
portal to network between dance communities on a global scale.
Our gig page is where dancers can go
and post gigs such as dance lessons, and projects. This is
beneficial to gain employments opportunities.
Other features include a resume tool
page, and local dance calendar, and again the purpose (the why) of
these features is that it cater to the dance community needs.
The Business Model
And We believe that this feature along
with other incentives will drive our revenue model, the freemium
model. We are going to offer our features for free to the majority of
our users. However, we believe that we can get a percentage of users
to becoming premium members. Our value proposition there is that
premium members will have VIP access to audition opportunities,
discount tickets, to dance show, workshops, and access to more dance
content.
Competitions
We are also going to differentiate
ourselves from our competitors in several ways. Just by looking at
the other sites, we see that all of them are forums. A place where
you just read for info, and it is difficult to navigate through.
With that being said , we are going to
positioned ourselves as being extremely user-friendly- and highly
interactive and oppose to one-directional.
Market Plan
And with this positioning, we will have
strategic market plan that is split into 3 simple phases.
Our 1st phase is divided
into two category-Offline and Online
For Our offline, it is important to us
that we promote the purpose of site. We are going to promote the
culture of what the site represent.
We going to get the dance studios that
I, and members of the team are connected to promote the site to their
students. The idea is to start off in dance studios in the bay area
and then expand to So Cal and so forth.
We will also get Well known dance
groups to join our site.
For our online strategy, we will by
using the push/pull factor to gain our users and SEO strategy. We believe that
dance fans will follow this site and that's when we are going to pull the
majority of those customers.
Our 2nd phase has to do with
monitoring and understand the conversion rate of users. Our goal here
to recognize patterns and listen to feedback so that we can adjust
our business model if need be.
Our final phase is when we gain a large
enough database of users; we can then attach the advertising
companies and large businesses.
Milestones
We know that we can do this because we
have set realistic milestones which are all measurable, attainable,
and within realistic the time. One of my duty as founder is to ensure
that team reach our milestones.
Financial Plan
Our financial plan shows that if we are
effective in our marketing and our assumptions are good. The best
scenario is that we project XXX dollars by year 2016. That is if we
grow at 200% and with a conversion rate on average of 15%. facebook
grows at 500%, but since we are a niche network, we will grow more
conservatively.
On the other hand, on a more
conservative scenario, if we grow at only 50%, and our conversion
rate average 8%, we are projected to be at XXX in 2016
But before we can get there, we need to
start here, at the start up cost. We estimate $106,00 to be our cost
to set up and Develop the product. Now the team truly believes in
this so much that we are going to put in our own working capital,
and we have
also anticipating 10,000 from the prize
money bring us to seek 76,000 from the investors for us
to realize our idea.
What does this mean for YOU?!!!
I AM READY MAKE A SITE WHERE DANCERS ARE NO LONGER THE BACKGROUND, BUT SOON THE MAIN ATTRACTION
Now, the question is why you should
invest in us? Let me recap..
Everything we do, we believe in
challenging the status quo, we believe in the art of dance!
We will provide dancers with the portal
to connect, share ideas, and inspire one another.
We are dancelists.com.
